Amputee Lone Star, USA Friendly Postponed

first_imgThe Liberia Amputee Football and Sports Association, (LAFASA) and the United States Amputees Football Federation have jointly postponed the August 9, 2014 international friendly football match in Maryland, United States of America.A dispatch from LAFASA’s International Coordinator in Minnesota, Minneapolis (USA), Mr. Duannah Siryon, said both organizations agreed to postpone the match due to the Ebola situation in Liberia.According to Mr. Siryon, it’s not time for a fund driven event but a time for all Liberians to join hands with the Liberian government and civic society organizations in the Ebola awareness campaign.The August 9, friendly was also to prepare Ampu Lone Star to participate in an educational seminar at Morgan State University on August 12 and a visit to the United State Capitol to meet with several U.S Congressional representatives on August 13.The leadership of the Liberia Amputee Football and Sports Association is expected to meet with officials of the Ministry of Health to engage in the Ebola awareness campaign in the country.Amputee Lone Star, the triple African Champions, was invited by the U.S National Amputee Soccer Team to participate in a friendly match on Soccerplex Stadium, near Washington D.C.The match was a prelude to the World Amputee Cup scheduled to take place on November 30 through December 8, 2014 in Mexico with more than 28 countries participating.Share this:Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)last_img read more
