MAJOR FLOODING ALERT AS STORM CONTINUES TO RAGE ACROSS DONEGAL

Pic by Rory O’Donnell.Donegal has been battered with overnight storms with many places flooded across the county.Parts of Donegal Town, Ballyshannon and Annagry have been badly hit.Power cables are down, a boat was washed up onto the pier at Bunbeg while the car park in Donegal Town was completely submerged in water. Our pictures show the impact of high tides and strong winds have had on Co Donegal overnight.A boat was washed up onto the pier at Bunbeg this morning. Pic by Neil Campbell.People are being warned not to go walking along the coastline as storm-force winds of up to 120 mph continue to last the county.Met Eireann have kept a status orange alert for Donegal and other parts of the countryA huge section of Annagry village was left under water. Cars parked overnight alongside The Pier in Donegal Town were left stranded with the fire services attending at first light.ESB crews have been called out across the county with a number of reports of downed powerlines.The ESB are currently fixing a powerline which has come down on the Carnmore Road in Dungloe.Hundreds of homes in Lifford, Newtowncunningham, Dungloe and Bunbeg are without power.Despite the storm-like conditions there are no reports of serious injuries.
