After another tune-up contest against Simpson College, Drake opens the regular season with three-straight games against teams that made the NCAA Tournament a year ago. Excitement surrounds the program as the Bulldogs won their third-straight Missouri Valley Conference regular season title in 2018-19, marking the first three-peat in program history and just the fifth in MVC history. Drake won 27 games and qualified for its third-consecutive and 13th-overall NCAA Tournament. The Bulldogs aim in 2019-20 to go dancing for the fourth-straight year, which would be a first for the program. Rhine (1,654 career points) and Hittner (1,565) will both strive to join a prestigious club of 2,000-point scorers, an achievement accomplished four times in Drake history and eight times in MVC history. Seniors Becca Hittner and Sara Rhine lead the group of returnees and are set for their final go-rounds at Drake. Last season, the decorated duo became just the second set of teammates to lead the Valley in scoring, with Hittner posting a league-best 19.7 points per game and Rhine finishing second with 18.3 points.
